Robert Trimble (November 17, 1776 â August 25, 1828) was an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. Trimble wrote the opinion for Ogden v. Sanders - ruled that a state bankruptcy law that applied to debts incurred after the passage of the statute did not violate the Contract Clause.[1] This was the only opinion that Chief Justice John Marshall dissented from.
