The Bauhaus school was founded by German architect Walter Gropius in 1919. This design school was located in Weimar, Germany. The goal of the school was to create simple, unornamented designs in all fields, from architecture to household furniture and graphic design. The schoolâs influence is seen in many aspects of modern design. Interestingly enough, in the 1980's a progressive rock band formed and named itself Bauhaus. This music was later termed "Goth", even though Walter Gropius had nothing to do with the Gothic culture of the 3rd and 4th century A.D.
