A barber is someone who cuts hair, although in the past barbers have also served as doctors or dentists.

In the seventeenth-centry Spanish novel Don Quixote, one of Quixote's two good friends is a barber, and a barber's metal basin is mistaken by Quixote for an enchanted helmet.
