The Amero is the proposed currency for the proposed North American Union. The introduction of a supranational currency has been discussed since the 1990s[1] and coins have been minted annually since 2007.[2] If circulated, the Amero would replace the United States Dollar, Canadian Dollar, and Mexican Peso. Some commentators have argued that the Amero's introduction would impact each nation's political and economic sovereignty.
