Lysander (d. 395 B.C.) was a Greek general in the service of Sparta; as a leader in the Peloponnesian War, he defeated the forces of Athens in several naval battles. Eventually forces lead by him conquered the city of Athens, successfully installing Sparta as the leading city-state in the Greek peninsula.
