Ole Rømer

Ole Rømer (or sometimes spelled Roemer) (1644â1710) was the Danish astronomer who became the first person attempting to make the quantitative estimate for the speed of light. He also served as mayor and prefect of police of Copenhagen and ultimately as head of the State Council.[1]
