Port in East Yorkshire, England. Goole is the furthest inland seaport in the United Kingdom, situated at the junction of the Knottingley & Goole Canal and the River Ouse. It was founded in 1826 when the canal was opened as a transhipment point between the canal system and the river, navigable by sea-going vessels, and established a trade built largely on the export of coal.
