The Belgian Revolution was a revolt that started in Brussels and leaded to the independence of Belgium when it seceded from the Netherlands in 1830. It all started after a performance of the opera The Mute Girl of Portici. When the crowd poured into the streets they started shouting patriotic slogans.[1]
