Battery (electrical)

A Battery is a device that stores chemical energy and produces electric current. Batteries may be single-use or rechargeable.
Small batteries
These are some common sizes used for flashlights and electronic devices. They are described by the chemistry used in the battery. Single use batteries are usually described as alkaline while rechargeable batteries may be Nickel-Cadmium (NiCad) or Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH). [1] [2]

Car and truck batteries
These are usually 12 volt batteries containing six lead-acid cells. Large vehicles may have two 12 volt batteries connected in series to give 24 volts.
Large batteries
Large batteries have many applications. These include powering submarines and storing energy generated by wind turbines.
