Gevgelija (Macedonian: Гевгелија) is a border town in Macedonia with a population of 15.685.[1] The town is located in the southeastern corner of the country on the left bank of the River Vardar.[2]

The town is situated near the Macedonia-Greece border and became known worldwide after the border was closed to stop the mass invasion of immigrants.[3]
