Edith Wharton (1862-1937) was an American novelist, short story writer, poet and non-fiction writer. She is best known for her novels The House of Mirth (1905), Ethan Frome (1911) and the Pulitzer Prize winner The Age of Innocence (1920). She was the first woman to receive the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.
