George Washington

George Washington was our first President of the United States of America and a great commander in the Revolutionary War. He was also a devout Christian, with his adopted daughter once stating that if you question Washington's faith you may as well question whether or not he was a patriot.[1]

Canonization

Many American Catholics have expressed a strong will to have George Washington canonized. Although denied several times, the Washintonian-Catholics are gaining a strong following in the church.

Among some of the possible miracles that he is said to have performed are:

Liberating the American Colonists from the British Empire. Being unable to tell a lie. Throwing a silver dollar across the Potomac River. Surveying the land owned by Lord Fairfax.

Reactions To The Call For Canonization

George Washington was not a Catholic, so he is not allowed to be canonized.
