Al Qaeda

International Terrorist organization founded in the late 1980s, and led by Osama Bin Laden. Al Qaeda is predominantly fanatical Sunni Muslim. Al Qaeda is responsible for the September 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center and Pentagon and the October 2000 bombing of the U.S.S. Cole. Its main weapon is fear. Random attacks that are deadly often strike fear in helpless people. "Al Qaeda" means "the base." Osama bin Laden said that it originally referred to a training base.
