Chris Benoit
Chris Benoit (May 21, 1967 â June 24, 2007) was a Canadian professional wrestler best known for his time in World Wrestling Entertainment. He died June 24, 2007 in Atlanta, Georgia in an apparent double murder-suicide (first killing his wife, their son, then himself).
There was speculation that the killings were due to "roid rage" because of the use of steroids, a common problem in the professional wrestling industry. The chief medical examiner dismissed that speculation, saying the levels found were within the range expected as treatment for chronic pain. An MRI was conducted on Benoit revealed he had the brain of an 85-year-old man with Alzheimer's Disease.
Since the murder-suicide, WWE has tried to distance themselves from Benoit. With the launch of the WWE Network in 2014, Benoit's career is featured, however, any pay-per-view in which he is prominently featured includes a disclaimer/advisory.[1]
