Quintillus
Quintillus (full name: Imperator Caesar Marcus Aurelius Claudius Quintillus Augustus[1]) was Roman Emperor for a short time in AD 270. He was born in the city of Sirmium.
Life
Not much is known about Quintillus's Life before he came Emperor but there are some details. He was the brother of Emperor Claudius II who died from the plague. Before becoming Emperor, he was at one point possibly Procurator of Sardinia. His brother gave him the command of the Northern Italian Garrisons to protect the North East of Italy from invasions. Quintillus was stationed in Aquileia.
Emperor
The Roman Senate chose him as Emperor of the Roman Empire but the Danubian legions chose Aurelian, an officer who served in the Army. He was known to be a moderate and capable Emperor.
Death
Quintillus either was killed or committed suicide in AD 270 and only reigned for a short time in Italy. He was succeeded by Aurelian.
