Geography
Located in South America[1], Brazil has the third largest area among American countries and the second largest population[2].
Government
It is currently governed by the leftist Partido dos Trabalhadores (Worker's Party)[3], a founding member of the Foro de São Paulo (Sao Paulo Forum)[4]. It has 26 states and 1 federal district*; Acre, Alagoas, Amapa, Amazonas, Bahia, Ceara, Distrito Federal*, Espirito Santo, Goias, Maranhao, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Para, Paraiba, Parana, Pernambuco, Piaui, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Norte, Rio Grande do Sul, Rondonia, Roraima, Santa Catarina, Sao Paulo, Sergipe, and Tocantins.
