Tesla Model 3
Telsa Model 3 is the next generation electric car from Telsa Motors. 400,000 people have placed $1000. down payment to pre-order the car anticipated to be available at the end of 2017. The starting price is $35,000. Models with additional features will push the cost well above $45,000. The Model 3 is manufactured at the Tesla Factory located in Freemont California, [1]and the batteries are produced at the Gigafactory 1 located in Sparks Nevada. [2]
Features include 215-mile driving range and it will seat 5 adults. Options include all-wheel drive and the 'ludicrous' speed package, autopilot hardware, and supercharging. Top speed of 60 miles per hour in about six seconds. Much of the car's interior design has not been made public yet. Sources conclude that a minimalist dashboard is in order and all controls will be available by touchscreen. Speculation is that Telsa will also include a heads-up display of MPH.
Model 3 arrives for customers starting July 30th. People who paid in full will get delivery first.
Tax credit
American buyers can qualify for a $7500 Plug-in Electric Drive Vehicle Credit when purchasing Tesla vehicles. This credit is available to the first 200,000 customers who purchase, not lease, a Tesla car. The full rebate expired on 31 December 2018 and was replaced by a $3750 rebate which in turn will expire on July 31 2019. [3]
Variants
The Model 3 is available in numerous variants with prices ranging from $39,500 for the rear-wheel drive Standard Range Plus version to $59,500 for the Dual Motor all-wheel drive Performance version. Additional features such as Full Self Driving cost extra.[4]
