Francesco Landini

Francesco Landini was an Italian composer of the late 14th century.
He is known for his development of the trecento style, an exclusively secular medium that was often polyphonic, but with a strong emphasis on melody (as opposed to sometimes arid technicality of the French Ars Nova). He was also a poet, writing the lyrics to his compositions.
