Not to be confused with American Baptist Churches USA.

The American Baptist Association (ABA) is a Baptist denomination, located predominantly in the American South. The ABA is headquartered in Texarkana, Texas, which also houses its publishing house (Bogard Press). The ABA operates a seminary in Little Rock, Arkansas.

The ABA was founded in 1924 from a merger of two Baptist groups, and was influenced early by Ben Bogard, a proponent of Baptist successionism.[1]

Outside of its Landmarkism, the ABA generally holds to traditional, conservative Baptist doctrine.

The Baptist Missionary Association of America split from the ABA in 1950 over matters of church representation.

  1. ↑ Also called Landmarkism, the doctrine teaches that Baptists have existed since the beginning of the Christian church; as such groups holding to Landmarkism do not consider themselves Protestant, as they reserved that distinction to groups formed from the Reformation.
