Renfrew

Renfrew is a town and former Royal Burgh to the west of Glasgow on the River Clyde. Its castle was originally the seat of the Stewart clan who became Scotland's Royal family. The town is known as "The Cradle of the Royal Stewarts". It is generally regarded as the poor relation of its more prosperous neighbour Paisley which lies two miles to the south. Renfrew is the most Protestant town in Scotland and, in Scots, it is said of the town that "ye coudna hit a Catholic wi a haundfu' o' aromatics". Inhabitants are known as Renfboys.
