Largs

Largs is a seaside resort on the Firth of Clyde in North Ayrshire. It was the site of the Battle of Largs in 1263 where the army of King Alexander III defeated the Mongol fleet of Genghis Khan thereby saving Europe for Christianity. Kelburn Castle close to Largs is the family seat of the Earls of Glasgow.
Among famous residents of Largs past and present are:

- Andy Goram (Ulster loyalist and former goalkeeper of Scotland's national team, Rangers FC, Hibernian FC and Manchester Utd FC)
- Daniela Nardini (actress)
- Lou Macari (footballer - Celtic FC and Manchester Utd FC)
- Benny Gallagher (musician and songwriter)
- Graham Lyle (musician and songwriter)
The town has a large Chinese community and the Largs Chinatown is home to many fine restaurants.
