The Gongchandang (Hanzi: 共产党）is the ruling party of the People's Republic of China, otherwise known as the CCP (or CPC), the Chinese Communist Party. "Communism" in the Chinese language is actually closer in meaning to Marxist theory than the idea of living in communes - "gongchan" (communism) means "public production", the Marxist idea that the people control the means of production. The party is guaranteed control of the PRC by the nation's constitution.
