Nashville, Tennessee

Nashville is the capital city of Tennessee. Nashville is the second largest city in Tennessee by population (Memphis being the first). Nashville was originally founded as Fort Nashborough named after Francis Nash, a general killed in the Revolutionary War.

It is known worldwide as "Music City" for being the home base of the country music and Contemporary Christian Music genres as well as the Grand Ole Opry.

It is also the home to several Christian denominations, among them the Southern Baptist Convention (the largest US Protestant denomination), the United Methodist Church (the second largest US denomination and the largest of the mainline Protestant churches), the National Baptist Convention USA (the largest African-American Christian denomination), and the National Association of Free Will Baptists (the largest denomination among the Free Will Baptist groups).

The city has two professional sports franchises (the Tennessee Titans of the NFL and the Nashville Predators of the NHL) and one minor league team (the Nashville Sounds, the AAA affiliate of the Texas Rangers).
