The Powder Alarm was an incident in Massachusetts Bay Colony in September 1774 that involved the removal of gunpowder from a magazine by orders of General Thomas Gage.

Shortly after the incident in Massachusetts, Paul Revere rode north to meet with patriots in New Hampshire which led to the subsequent capture of Fort William and Mary.
