Phoenix is the capital and the largest city of Arizona. With a population of 1.7 million, Phoenix is now the 5th largest city in the United States. Pheonix is also known as the "Valley of the Sun".
Liberal, far-left Democrat Kate Gallego is the Mayor of Pheonix.
In 1900, Pheonix had only 5,544 people. In 1950, this number expanded to 106,818. Now, it is expected to reach 2 million in 2033, based on current trends based on the 2010 United States Census.
