Prince Edward Island

Prince Edward Island was founded by the British in 1758 and originally named St John's Island. The capital of Prince Edward Island is Charlottetown and PEI entered confederation in 1873. It has a total area of 5660km2. The population in 1991 was 129,795 for 0.5% of the national total. The per capita provincial income in 1992 was $16,546.[1]
