The Proclamation of 1763 was a law passed by Britain concerning the 13 American colonies. After the French and Indian War, Britain wanted to ensure that the colonies would not be attacked by Native Americans, so the Proclamation drew a line down the Appalachain Mountains. However, as many colonists had fought in the war and lost family, they were angry that they could not settle the land they had just fought for. Combined with the Intolerable Acts, Stamp Act, and Boston Tea Party, the American colonists grew unhappy of the tyranny of King George, leading to the American Revolution.
