Western Front

The Western Front was a narrow strip of land between Belgium and France where the Allies on one side and the Germans on the other dug a complex network trenches during World War I. At that point, the war ground to a bloody an protracted stalemate. After Russia withdrew from the War, the Germans unleashed all their troops on the western front, and it appeared they would win easily. But American troops came to the front, and in the Second Battle of the Marne, the Allies started winning. Soon afterward, the Great War ended.
