Philip Levy was an American[Citation Needed] and secretly a Communist[Citation Needed] who worked closely with Leon Josephson in espionage activity on behalf of Soviet intelligence. Levy allowed the use of his home as a place to store documents purloined by the Communist Party of the United States (CPUSA) secret appartus from people critical of the party.
