Aswan Dam

The Aswan Dam in Egypt, built from 1960-1970, was a project of Gamal Abdel Nassar. The dam would prevent the Nile River from flooding and would generate electricity. Nasser seized the Suez Canal in order to raise money for the dam. The Soviet Union also gave the Egyptians a great deal of money.
