"99 Red Balloons" (1983) is a antiwar pop song from German singer Nena. The original German title is "99 Luftballons". which is translated as "99 air balloons".

In the song, a person releases 99 balloons into the sky. The balloons are spotted on military radar and are mistaken for an enemy attack; instead of verifying what is on the radar, the military immediately launches a counterattack and destroys the city in the process.
