Patrick Erin Murphy (March 30, 1983), a Democrat, was the U.S. Representative of Florida's 18th congressional district from 2013 to 2017. He defeated Florida's Representative of the 22nd congressional district, Allen West, in a controversial race impacted by redistricting; it saw recounts and legal challenges. His success was largely contingent on early voting - which tends to favor liberals.[1]
