Benjamin Harrison was twenty-third president of United States of America from 1888 to 1892 when Grover Cleveland exceeded him. Harrison's term was characterized by being full of federal spending and legislation including tariffs and other taxes. He was a Republican.

Early Political Career

Harrison's political career was foreshadowed by him being a grand-son of late president William Henry Harrison

Harrison fought in the Union side of the American Civil War unlike his predecessor Grover Cleveland who evaded the draft of that time that existed until after the Viet Nam War. In 1879 he was elected to United States Senate as a Republican.

Significant Legislation During Benjamin Harrison's Presidency Term

All passed in 1890, were Sherman Antitrust Act, Sherman Silver Purchase Act, McKinley Tariff, in addition to Wounded Knee Massacre, also in 1890 of that year.

Defeat to Grover Cleveland

Benjamin Harrison was defeated by Grover Cleveland in the election of 1982.
