Wetherby
Wetherby is a market town and civil parish in the West Riding of Yorkshire, England. It lies 12 miles north-east of Leeds city centre, 12 miles west of York, 8 miles south of Harrogate and 45 miles south-west of Teesside. As of 2021, the town has a population of just under 12,000. For the purposes of local government, it is administered by Leeds City Council.

As with many place-names in Yorkshire, Wetherby has Old Norse roots, the word -by meaning a Norse farm, owing to its origins as part of the Danelaw in the 9th and 10th centuries.[1]
Wetherby Bridge spans the River Wharfe as it passes though the town and is a Scheduled Ancient Monument. Wetherby is located on the Great North Road between London and Edinburgh, roughly marking the halfway point between those two capital cities.
