The M62 is a 107-mile long trans-Pennine motorway in the English counties of Lancashire and Yorkshire. It runs from the Knotty Ash area of Liverpool in the west to North Cave, approximately 15 miles east of Kingston upon Hull, in the east; linking the Mersey and Humber ports via the major cities of Manchester, Bradford and Leeds. Other major destinations along the route's corridor include Huyton, St Helens, Warrington, Bolton, Rochdale, Oldham, Huddersfield, Halifax, Wakefield, Pontefract, Selby and Goole.

There is a strong correlation between the M62 corridor and the location of major rugby league teams in the UK.
