Gambling prohibited by Islam:

Islam prohibits gambling, which is called maisir or qimar, for multiple reasons:

  • the Quran and Hadith expressly teach against it as the result of Satan, and an abomination;
  • gambling is harmful to people, causing addiction and ruining families financially
  • Islam promotes work for making a living, rather than relying on chance through gambling.
  • gambling wastes time as a sinful activity, time that could be far better spent
  • gambling sparks hatred towards others by creating losses while another gains

Worth mentioning that many Muslim immigrants in the West, try not to adhere to these and other strict codes.
