Waco

Waco is a city located in Central Texas located just ninety miles south of Dallas and 100 miles north of Austin.
The city population is 113,726 and the metropolitan area population is 213,517. The climate is semi-tropical with mild winters. On May 11, 1953, a deadly tornado hit the city; the 114 deaths tied it for the deadliest in Texas history.
Dr Pepper was first made in Waco; a local museum houses artifacts of the popular soft drink.
The city is home to Baylor University. It is also the home of Christian couple Chip and Joanna Gaines, hosts of the television show Fixer Upper. It was also located near the former Branch Davidians compound, site of the standoff between the group and the BATF.
