Daughters of 9/11 is an American television documentary film directed by Marc Levin and executive produced by Dick Wolf.[1] Produced to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, the two-hour film centers on the decades-long pursuit of legal justice by the children of victims killed in the tragedy.[2]

The documentary premiered on the CBS Television Network and began streaming on Paramount+ on September 11, 2026.[3]

Synopsis

The film chronicles the lives and modern-day activism of Elizabeth Miller and Jessica Trant, who both lost their fathers during the collapse of the World Trade Center when they were children. Miller's father, Douglas Miller, was a New York City firefighter, while Trant's father, Daniel Trant, worked as a bond salesman for Cantor Fitzgerald.[4]

Daughters of 9/11 highlights their collaborative efforts with retired FBI Special Agent Frank Pellegrino, who spent over a decade hunting for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM), the accused mastermind behind the terrorist attacks. The documentary details Pellegrino's eventual interrogation of Mohammed at Guantánamo Bay and includes audio recordings of Mohammed's subsequent confessions.[5] A central focal point of the narrative is the ongoing legal gridlock surrounding the military tribunals that has delayed a final criminal trial for the perpetrators.[4]

Production

The special was developed as a co-production between Wolf Entertainment, Blowback Productions, and See It Now Studios.[2] The musical score for the documentary was composed by Brendan Ryan, who lost his wife in the World Trade Center during the 2001 attacks.[1]
