Gomer was a prostitute and the wife of Hosea. God told Hosea to marry her even though she was a prostitute, to symbolize the unfaithfulness of Israel before God. Gomer had three children while she was married to Hosea, none of which were his. Gomer fell into slavery and was redeemed by Hosea who bought her back per God's instruction.
