Durness

Durness is the northwesternmost village in Great Britain, situated close to Cape Wrath and the Kyle of Tongue. It lies in the county of Sutherland in Highland region. Durness was settled by Viking raiders in the eighth century AD which still has an impact on the local tonge. Like many villages in the uplands of Scotland Durness is completely teetotal and strict in its observance of the Sabbath.
