Henry Liddell

Henry Liddell (lĭd'əl) (1811–1898) was an English teacher and classics scholar. He complied the Greek-English Lexicon (1843) with Robert Scott, which established the standard for over a century in this field. He also served as headmaster (1846–55) of the Westminster School and then as dean (1855–91) of Christ Church, a college in Oxford University.
Liddell was at Christ Church the same time as Lewis Carroll, who wrote Alice's Adventures in Wonderland for Liddell's daughter, Alice Liddell.
