The Diadochi or "successors" were the men who vied for a part of Alexander the Great's Empire upon his sudden death in 323 B.C. The Diadochi are usually considered to be:

  • Perdiccas - Prime minister or chief of staff
  • Antipater - Military regent in Greece and Macedonia while Alexander was away on his military campaigns
  • Eumenes - Staff secretary
  • Ptolemy I - Personal aide and staff officer
  • Lysimachus - Personal aide and staff officer
  • Seleucus - Commander of the officers' training corps
  • Craterus - Infantry division commander, and son in law of Antipater
  • Polysperchon - Infantry division commander
  • Antigonus - Infantry division commander
  • Cassander - Infantry division commander, and son of Antipater
  • Demetrius - Cavalry division commander, and son of Antigonus
