Pedro Alvarez Cabral (1467-1520) was a Portuguese navigator who is credited with discovering Brazil in 1500 while an expedition to travel from Lisbon Portugal to India. His expedition succeeded in establishing trading posts in India, but upon his return in 1501, he was given no further positions of authority.
