A "'Parthian shot"' is a criticism leveled by someone as they leave a group. It is named after the Parthians, the ancient people of Parthia who used the innovative cavalry tactic of feigning retreat and then, as their enemies pursued them, twisting around and shooting arrows at their adversaries.

It is sometimes referred to as a "parting shot".
