Chris Hansen is a reporter for NBC. He is best known for his sting operation exposing men trying to have sex with underage girls called To Catch a Predator on Dateline NBC. He did this by collaborating with a group called Perverted Justice who provided the decoys, generally 18 year old actresses playing girls younger than 18. Despite the fact that almost all of the men who appear on the show are clearly guilty, NBC and Perverted Justice have been criticized for using entrapment, which they have admitted that they sometimes do, and for money changing between NBC, the police, and Perverted Justice. ABC's 20/20 is currently investigating NBC for this alleged misconduct.
