Malaysia is a predominantly Muslim country in south-east Asia. Its capital is Kuala Lumpur, officially abbreviated to KL. Malaysia is a federation of thirteen states, nine of which have hereditary sultans instead of governors. One of these sultans is elected every five years to be the country's head of state, known as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, who is usually referred to in English as the King of Malaysia. However, Malaysia is ruled as a federal parliamentary democracy, the haed of which is the prime minister. The country currently experiencing rapid economic growth.
