Scranton

Scranton is a city in Pennsylvania. It was once a major center of the anthracite mining and textile industries and was the first U.S. city with an electrified streetcar system. The nickname is "The Electric City". Scranton's population peaked in the 1930 census and has been falling since. Anthracite mining ceased in the city after the 1959 Knox Mine Disaster.
