Crucifixion

Crucifixion was a cruel but common method of execution in the days of the Roman Empire. "Crucifixion" is simply the Latin word for "attach to a cross."
To Christians, the phrase the Crucifixion refers specifically to the death of Jesus Christ, the most famous crucifixion. In this most holy of acts, Jesus was betrayed by his fellow Jews, and given to the Romans to be put to death. In killing Jesus, however, He was able to rise and fulfill his role as savior.
