Salmon is a type of fish used in many dishes, including sushi. They are distinguished by their unique migratory and breeding tendencies. Salmon have the miraculous ability to find the original stream where they were born after swimming around for years in the ocean, and returning there to breed. In some areas, the status of salmon has become endangered. This is especially evident on the west coast, due to political actions in 2002. Several farms were about to be cut off from irrigation water in accordance with the Endangered Species Act, as salmon needed the water. Dick Cheney, our vice president, interfered and allowed the water to go to the farms. As a result, roughly 70,000 died due to a lack of water. This has caused west coast Democrats to demand an investigation in 2007. This incident has been reported on by both the Washington Post and USA Today.
