Bastille Day

The day (14 July 1789) when French peasants stormed the Bastille prison and freed all seven inmates. Its most famous inhabitant, the author and aristocrat, the Marquis de Sade had been removed from the Bastille a few days previously and sent to a lunatic asylum.

Bastille Day, the 14th of July is still celebrated in France today.
